COMMUNITY CONSULTATION - Kelly's Yard, Former Hawthorn Leslie Shipyard, Hebburn Riverside.

29th March 2020

Further to cancellation of the physical community consultation event on 24/03/2020 due to Covid-19, we have decided to consult online. We wish to create 446 new homes, car parking and bike stores, in a development of the very highest design quality, led by ecology and landscaping, and with sustainability embedded in the scheme. Our fabric first approach will lead to place making which will be a great boost to the wider area in addition to the riverside itself. We will procure our contracting team in Tyneside and the project will provide a significant boost to employment and the local economy over a sustained number of years. We would like to commence Phase 1 as soon as practicably possible following a clean consent, by the end of this year. We strongly believe that after 15 years of dereliction, a high quality residential scheme is the only way to bring this contaminated and dangerous eyesore into good economic use, which will mean that the recent dangerous fires would stop and adjacent local house prices would rise. Kelly's Yard is designed to reflect its notable history, and will provide a range of fantastic new homes starting under £100,000. The scheme is fully drawn and so the presentation is architecturally accurate, not an artist’s impression, in preparation for our second pre-application meeting with South Tyneside Council tomorrow and, subject to feedback, full submission in April. Please click the link below and press the blue download box, bottom right, to download the presentation.

We would very much encourage as much feedback as possible via email to
